More about Sierra

Education, Background & More

My therapeutic approach is built on a foundation of deep empathy, cultural humility, and a commitment to creating a safe and validating space where your individual journey is honored. I understand the profound impact of systemic forces and personal histories on well-being, particularly concerning the complexities of racial identity, the pressures of cultural stress, and the ways that the echoes of the past can shape our present. My aim is to connect with you authentically as you navigate these experiences, fostering a deeper understanding and acceptance of your true self. My Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic modalities to support your growth.

During my internship at a community mental health center, I gained extensive experience working with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults, facing a wide spectrum of challenges. My work involved providing both individual and group therapy, where I developed a strong foundation in creating supportive environments, fostering therapeutic relationships, and utilizing various evidence-based approaches to help clients navigate their difficulties. I am adept at supporting individuals in identifying their values, exploring their sense of purpose, and creating more fulfilling lives, helping them achieve their personal goals, reduce feelings of distress, improve their daily lives, and build stronger connections with themselves and others.

My background also includes research into the residual effects of historical oppression on mental health outcomes within the African American community, highlighting my commitment to understanding the deep roots of present-day struggles. This lens informs my work in addressing racial anxiety and cultural stress, helping individuals navigate these complex issues with insight and resilience.

I believe that healing is a journey of reconnecting with your inherent strength and embracing your authentic narrative. Together, we can explore your unique story, identify the patterns that may be hindering your growth, and cultivate strategies for greater self-compassion, resilience, and joy. If you are ready to begin this journey of self-discovery and empowerment, I encourage you to reach out for a consultation to explore if we are the right fit to work together.
